Overview

Manage and maintain WernerCo Crystal Lake’s tactical procurement activities to include, but not limited to, the acquisition and delivery of direct production materials, indirect commodities and building services.  Support Strategic WernerCo Procurement by assisting in cost reduction initiatives, supplier agreements and new product development projects.  Further responsibilities include maintaining procurement reports to monitor commodity expenditures and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.

This position will work closely with material planners to guarantee the timely delivery of high-quality raw materials in the appropriate quantities.  Strong interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-departmental teams to ensure the delivery of the best products to market, ultimately achieving 100% customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain:

 

• The acquisition and on-time delivery of high-quality direct production materials

• Indirect material contracts, building services and assist with capital projects

• Engineering change order (ECO) tracking and implementation

• Supplier quality issues and assist in the creation of quarterly supplier scorecards

 

 

Assist/Support the WernerCo Strategic Procurement Group in the management of:

 

• Cost reductions and alternative materials and/or processes

• Annual supplier agreements and maintain supplier contract directory

• New product development (NPD)

• Environmental compliance and country of origin identification

 

 

Analytical report creation/management to include, but not limited to:

 

• Annual spend and raw material KPI tracking

• Purchase price variance, cost analysis and supplier price catalog

• Supplier payment term rationalization

• Commodity and scrap metal tracking

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field
• 3-5 Years Experience as a material/service Buyer or similar role in closely related field
• Strong knowledge of ERP principles and demand planning, APIC’s exposure is beneficial
• Cross-departmental work experience in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
• Excellent negotiation and cost management skills
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication competences, ability to build effective relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically creating Excel spreadsheets
• Coachable and willingness to learn
• Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and willingness to take on new challenges as they arise

 

 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:


Sitting: The role involves periods of sitting while working on a computer and attending meetings. Ergonomic office furniture is provided to ensure comfort.

Screen Time: Extensive use of computer screens is common in this role. Adequate breaks and ergonomic setups are encouraged to minimize eye strain and fatigue.

Mobility: This role involves periods of standing, bending and limited lifting while working and/or interacting on the manufacturing floor.

Communication: Clear communication, both written and verbal, is crucial. Strong interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-departmental teams.

Flexibility: The ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously is essential. The work environment may involve occasional stress due to deadlines or unexpected demands.
